形態特徵

• Culms tufted.
• Blade linear-lanceolate, ca. 6 cm long, 4 mm wide, glandular along midrib and margins; ligule a ring of hairs, ca, 0.5 mm long; mouth of sheath covered with tubercular hairs.
• Inflorescence an open panicle, ca. 11 cm long. Spikelets ca. 5.5 mm long, 2 mm wide, to 12-flowered or more, linear-lanceolate; glumes chartaceous, boat shaped, lanceolate, 1-nerved, glandular along nerves; lower glume ca. 1.2 mm long, slightly shorter than upper; lemma chartaceous, broadly oblong, conspicuously 3-nerved, ca. 1.6 mm long; palea chartaceous, oblanceolate, rounded at apex, 2-keeled, minutely ciliate on keels, ca. 1.2 mm long.
• Caryopsis ca. 0.5 mm long, oblong; embryo 1/2 its length of caryopsis.
• The caryopsis of this species is subglobose and reddish brown, while caryopsis in the similar species, <i>E. poaeoides</i> is dark brown and broadly oblong.

• 世界 : Widely distributed in the warmer regions of the world and can be used as a fodder grass.
